Helpie for Codex · Mac beta

Your projects.
With you.

Connect your iPhone to Codex on your Mac. Install the Helpie plugin, ask Codex to set it up, and scan your private pairing code.

  1. Download the Mac plugin

Open this page on your Mac. Download and unzip the package, then move the entire extracted folder somewhere you’ll keep it, such as Documents/Helpie. Keep this folder in place while using the plugin.

    Download Mac setup

    Version 1.1.0 · 221 KB · Free for now

This is Helpie’s direct installation package. It is not currently listed in OpenAI’s public plugin directory.

  2. Let Codex guide the setup

Open a local chat in Codex and attach the folder you just unzipped, or tell Codex where it is. Send this message:

Install the Helpie plugin from the Mac setup folder I attached. Read START-HERE.md and help me register this local marketplace and install Helpie in Codex. Then run Helpie setup and show my pairing QR code.

When the marketplace has been added, open the plugin directory, choose Helpie as the source, and install the Helpie plugin. Restart Codex if the source does not appear.

In a new local chat, ask: “Set up Helpie and show my pairing QR code.” The first setup can take several minutes. Codex handles the setup commands; you don’t need to open Terminal.

  3. Scan. Connect. Make something.

In the Helpie iPhone app, tap Scan Mac code and scan the code on your Mac. Use Helpie’s scanner, rather than your phone’s Camera app. The code is private, works once, and expires after ten minutes.

If you already use Helpie, update both devices, then open Settings → Pair a different Mac → Disconnect on the phone and scan a fresh code. Follow Finish your first task on the Mac pairing screen. Choose a local Codex project and try a small task, then open the completed answer on your phone. Keep your Mac awake and online.

About your connection

Helpie installs a Mac helper that starts when you sign in. Tasks use your own Codex account and usage allowance, and Codex Desktop tasks have full local file access under your Mac account, including beyond the selected project. One phone can be paired to a Mac at a time.

With Helpie 1.1 on both devices and a new pairing, your tasks, results, and media are end-to-end encrypted over Wi-Fi or mobile data. Cloudflare forwards encrypted traffic without the device keys needed to read it. Your Mac and selected AI provider still process the content needed for your tasks. See how it works and read our privacy policy and terms of service before starting.

To stop remote access, ask Codex to “Stop Helpie remote access.” Do this before uninstalling the plugin: uninstalling the plugin alone does not stop its Mac helper.

Need a hand?

If there are no projects, add a local project folder in Codex. If the pairing code expires, ask Codex for a new Helpie pairing code. For anything else, contact info@helpie.cc.
